Washington – OSHA issued a correction and technical amendment (.pdf file) to its Hazard Communication Standard to change references of “Material Safety Data Sheets” to the updated “Safety Data Sheets.” OSHA inadvertently left in the old phrasing when the standard was revised last March.
References to the acronym “MSDS” likewise were changed to “SDS,” according to the Feb. 8 amendment. The amendment, which also corrects some table notations, is effective immediately.
The hazcom standard was updated last year to align it with the multi-national Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.
