Washington – Following the heavy rains that poured down on Gulf Coast states during Hurricane Isaac, OSHA is urging workers to stay safe during recovery efforts.
Recovery workers can face an array of hazards, including heat stress, downed electrical wires, carbon monoxide poisoning and falls, an OSHA press release stated.
“Recovery work should not put you in the recovery room,” Cindy Coe, OSHA’s regional administrator in Atlanta, said in the release.
OSHA advised workers to take appropriate protective measures, such as performing hazard evaluations, using personal protective equipment and following proper hygiene procedures.
