Over the past decade, the “evolution of heat protection and workplace safety has moved forward leaps and bounds,” says Leon Marsh, founder and CEO of Miami-based Bodytrak.

In September, OSHA announced the start of a multipronged approach to protecting workers from extreme heat exposure – indoors and outdoors.

“Severe heat illness can be devastating to a worker’s health, and there’s no reason it has to happen to anyone on the job,” says Adrianna Carrera, product management specialist for Magid. “The most important point is that heat illness is 100% preventable.”

"Under OSHA law, employers are responsible for providing workplaces free of known safety hazards," OSHA's "Water. Rest. Shade." heat illness prevention campaign page states. "This includes protecting workers from extreme heat."
