Washington – Following President Barack Obama’s re-election on Nov. 6, stakeholders are looking to whether the appointed heads of several safety agencies will be retained.
“I would hope and expect they would remain for some time,” AFL-CIO Director of Safety and Health Peg Seminario said in a post-election interview with Safety+Health magazine. “There’s a lot of work to do.”
Historically, secretaries of labor and agency heads do not stay on for more than one presidential term.

When asked whether Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis, OSHA administrator David Michaels or Mine Safety and Health Administration chief Joseph A. Main would be staying or stepping down, a Department of Labor spokesperson declined to comment.
