Isakson, Franken named to leadership positions on Senate workplace safety subcommittee

Washington – Sens. Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Al Franken (D-MN) will serve as chair and ranking member, respectively, of the Senate Employment and Workplace Safety Subcommittee in the 114th Congress.

The Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee established the subcommittee assignments during an executive session on Jan. 28. The HELP Committee also adopted funding resolution and committee rules during the hearing, and approved two nominees for the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission: Mary Lucille Jordan and Michael Young.

In the last congressional term, Isakson served as ranking member of the Employment and Workplace Safety Subcommittee and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) served as chair. Casey is now the ranking member of the Children and Families Subcommittee.
