UK guide intended to aid driver health

London — A new guide from the Society of Occupational Medicine addresses the health of “at work driving populations” and reducing road traffic incidents.

Developed in partnership with the British agency National Highways, the guide is intended for both employers and occupational health professionals with a focus on any worker who drives on public roads, “rather than a specific industry or type of license holder.”

The resource cites a 2020 study showing that nearly a third of all roadway fatalities involve someone driving for work. In addition, more deaths occur from work-related road travel than from incidents in the workplace.
