Lowell, MA — Keeping workers safe during a disaster – natural or human-caused – is the goal of a new online course from a NIOSH Total Worker Health Center of Excellence.
Developed by the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace, the Total Worker Health Employer Crisis Preparedness course is an introduction to what organizations should be thinking about to protect their workers in the event of severe weather, acts of violence, infectious disease outbreaks or any other type of disaster.
The 90-minute course features 10 modules on topics such as vulnerability assessment, emergency action plans, overcoming obstacles to preparedness, crisis leadership, training and mental health resilience. Course materials include a guide and workbook, as well as links to resources to help build a preparedness program.
The free course is intended for a wide variety of professionals, including those in risk management, health and safety, operations, human resources, and managers of any sector, anywhere in the United States.
