Itasca, IL — You now have until April 14 to submit a letter of intent for a National Safety Council grant aimed at developing safety solutions that target work-related musculoskeletal disorders.
MSDs – which include tendinitis, strains and sprains, and carpal tunnel syndrome – are the most common workplace injury. They’re also the leading cause of worker disability, early retirement and limitations to gainful employment, NSC says.
The R2S grant program will award up to $75,000 per approved research project, for a total of $225,000 in grants, for the creation of innovative solutions that focus on on-the-job injury risk reduction and can be seamlessly integrated across a range of sectors and workplaces.
R2S proposals should support one or more key research areas, including:
- Emerging technologies
- Solutions to jobs or tasks known to have high MSD risk
- MSD management systems
- Future of work
- Total worker well-being
The list of inaugural grant recipients will be announced in June, and the recipients will have an opportunity to present their safety findings at the 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo or other event.
