CPWR launches online planning tool for controlling COVID-19 exposures on construction sites

Silver Spring, MD — In response to a stakeholder request, as well as recommendations from OSHA and NIOSH, CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training has developed a free online tool aimed at helping employers create strategies to control construction worker exposure to COVID-19.

CPWR’s COVID-19 Exposure Control Planning Tool develops a printable and distributable document after employers complete four steps:

  • Assess the risk of exposure and identify control measures to reduce exposures.
  • Create a protocol for screening workers and visitors, as well as handling workers who become ill or might have been exposed.
  • Establish the COVID-19-related training to be provided, including who will conduct and receive the training.
  • Fulfill the final elements of the plan, such as providing job information and determining who bears responsibility for enacting the plan.
