FMCSA to host virtual trucking safety summit Aug. 5

Washington — The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has scheduled a virtual trucking safety summit to solicit information on improving the safe operation of property-carrying commercial motor vehicles on the nation’s roads.

According to notice published in the July 21 Federal Register, the summit – slated for 9 a.m. Eastern on Aug. 5 – is open to the public and will provide an outlet for motor carriers, drivers, safety technology developers and users, federal and state partners, and safety advocacy groups to share ideas on how to improve trucking safety.

The agenda includes eight different sessions. Separate registration is required to access each one.

The event will feature an association perspective session, two separate panel discussions on what’s working in the industry, and guest speakers from the Federal Highway Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Additional panel discussions will focus on state partnerships, technology and a Florida safety story.

 

The summit will conclude with a 30-minute public comment session. To take part, speakers must register in advance, or written comments can be submitted via Regulations.gov.
