Washington — OSHA has published a set of tips for drivers and passengers in taxis, rideshare vehicles, limousines and other car service vehicles to help protect against exposure to COVID-19.
Along with encouraging drivers to stay home when sick and report any health concerns, the agency recommends routine cleaning and disinfecting of door handles and other surfaces with products listed by the Environmental Protection Agency as effective against the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19.
Other recommendations:
- Limit the number of passengers drivers can transport at a time, and install plexiglass barriers between drivers and passengers when possible.
- Vehicles should have hand sanitizers containing at least 60% alcohol, tissues, disposable towels and trash receptacles for all occupants.
- Drivers and customers should wear masks over their nose and mouth.
- Drivers should lower vehicle windows to increase airflow.
