Washington — The Department of Labor has appointed a new chair and two members to the Administrative Review Board.
DOL announced the appointments of William Thomas Barto, James A. Haynes and Daniel T. Gresh in a Jan. 8 press release. The appointees will serve two-year terms.
Barto, the ARB’s new chair, previously served as an administrative law judge for DOL. Haynes was an appellate administrative law judge for the Employees Compensation Appeals Board, and Gresh is an ARB attorney.
The board issues final agency decisions in cases involving worker protection laws, employment discrimination and whistleblower protections, among other subjects. Its cases normally come from appeals of administrative law judges’ decisions or those from DOL’s Wage and Hour Division administrator.
“The ARB’s mission is to issue legally correct, just and timely decisions,” Deputy Secretary of Labor Patrick Pizzella said in the release. “After a rigorous selection process, these members’ expertise will be a valuable complement to the Department of Labor’s overall mission to protect the American workforce.”
