Wisconsin sanitation worker bill signed into law

Watertown, WI – New legislation in Wisconsin doubles the maximum and minimum fines for traffic violations that endanger sanitation workers.

Gov. Scott Walker (R) on July 15 signed Senate Bill 145 into law. The bill, prompted by a January 2013 roadway incident that resulted in serious injuries to a sanitation worker, increases the penalties for speeding and reckless driving when sanitation workers are present. Previously, state law covered only highway construction and maintenance workers.
