Anti-texting campaign aimed at young drivers

Washington – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the State Attorneys General and the Ad Council have teamed up to conduct a nationwide campaign to warn young drivers about the dangers of texting while driving. “Stop the texts. Stop the wrecks.” ads will be featured on television, radio, outdoor and digital public service announcements, and will direct audiences to a new campaign website.

Distracted driving is the No. 1 killer of U.S. teens, according to NHTSA. A national survey conducted by the Ad Council found that 82 percent of drivers 16-24 years old have admitted to reading a text message while driving.
