Washington – OSHA on Oct. 13 released educational materials on protecting laboratory workers from exposure to chemical, biological and physical hazards.
Intended for lab safety managers, the materials include a guidance document (large.pdf file) that explains how to minimize electrical hazards, fire, explosions and falls, as well as fact sheets on specific hazards.
OSHA based its materials on the original edition of the National Academies’ Prudent Practices in the Laboratory manual. However, OSHA now is working with NA to update the non-mandatory appendices in the agency’s Laboratory Standard (1910.1450) to match guidance in the revised edition of the manual.
