Washington – OSHA will focus on removing or revising outdated, duplicative and inconsistent construction standards in Phase IV of its Standards Improvement Project, according to a plan (.pdf file) released Aug. 23 by the Department of Labor.
Phase IV, which will be part of an upcoming regulatory agenda, fits with the Obama administration’s larger effort to eliminate unnecessary regulations.
DOL cannot yet estimate cost savings but said the three earlier phases saved employers $63.7 million per year in 2010 dollars.
