GAO launches investigation into federal workers’ comp fraud

Washington – The Government Accountability Office has launched an investigation into employees abusing the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act program, and has asked for help in identifying these individuals.

Fraud schemes could include a beneficiary:

  • Working a second job
  • Overstating his or her workers’ compensation claim
  • Collecting benefits for a deceased individual

People with information about possible fraud schemes are encouraged to contact GAO at [email protected]. Submitted details will be kept confidential.
