St. Paul, MN – Minnesota’s occupational safety and health program will resume its training and enforcement activities after state legislators and the governor agreed on a budget deal July 20.
The state had been forced into a nearly three-week shutdown when the legislature’s Republican majority and Democrat governor failed to close a $1.4 billion gap between their two budget proposals. Many state agencies halted activities June 30, including the state’s OSHA. Only a handful of the agency’s duties continued during the shutdown, including inspections of sites where imminent danger existed or that had experienced a fatality.
