Washington – OSHA has scheduled two informal stakeholder meetings on occupational exposure to infectious diseases for later this month.
The agency is considering a proposed standard on controlling worker exposure to infectious agents and seeking public comment on such strategies. Both meetings are set to take place in Washington on July 29 – one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
“We know that workers in health care and related facilities may be exposed to infectious agents, and they deserve to be protected,” OSHA administrator David Michaels said in a press release.

Issues to be discussed include:
- Advantages and disadvantages of a program standard to limit exposure to workplace infectious diseases
- Requiring written worker infection control plans
- Alternative approaches to rulemaking
Registration for the meeting closes July 22.
