Washington – Nearly $5 million in workplace safety training grants now are available for select organizations, OSHA announced June 15.
The agency has begun accepting applications under the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, which is offering up to $4.7 million to non-profit, community and faith-based organizations, employer associations and labor unions, according to an OSHA press release.
Four types of safety and health training grants are available:
- Capacity building pilot grants, which assist organizations in formulating a plan before moving forward with a safety and health education program.
- Capacity building development grants, which are for organizations seeking to expand their training.
- Targeted topic training grants and training and educational materials development grants – both of which support the development of quality training materials and programs.
“The programs funded by these grants will supply small businesses, hard-to reach workers, and those in high-hazard industries with the knowledge and tools they need to support safe and healthful workplaces,” Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis said in a press release.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. EDT on July 20.
