NSC releases position on safety management systems

The National Safety Council recently released a new policy statement on safety management systems. The council supports the finding that comprehensive SMSs are effective in reducing the risk of workplace incidents, injuries and fatalities. NSC encourages all companies to adopt an SMS, and measure results against defined criteria, demonstrate sustained management commitment and involvement in safety, and engage workers and employee representatives (where applicable) to participate in the process.
