The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Jan. 5 announced the dates of public listening sessions scheduled to gather input on a proposed rulemaking on hours-of-service requirements for commercial motor vehicle drivers.
According to a notice (.pdf file) published in the Jan. 5 Federal Register, listening sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time on:
- Jan. 19 in Arlington, VA
- Jan. 22 in Dallas
- Jan. 25 in Los Angeles
FMCSA officials are seeking comment on what factors, issues and data they should consider as the agency prepares to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking to the Office of Management and Budget under a settlement agreement with the Washington-based advocacy group Public Citizen and other organizations. A final rule must be published in the summer of 2011.
