Workplace violence and harassment prevention: New manual from ILO

Geneva — The International Labour Organization has released a follow-up training manual to its 2022 publication, Violence and Harassment at Work: A Practical Guide for Employers

Available in English, French and Spanish, the free manual was created in response to requests from employer and business membership organizations, ILO says. Suggested as a two-day course, it features 10 exercises, six modules and three real-life case studies.

“Upon completing the course, enterprises will understand what constitutes violence and harassment in the world of work and have the tools that they need to assess risks, identify cases, and improve their existing policies and practices,” ILO says in a press release, in which it also notes that, as of 2022, 1 out of 5 workers have experienced violence and harassment on the job.

“Tackling violence and harassment at work … is a critical step toward building sustainable, equitable, safe and healthy work environments that foster trust and boosts productivity and long-term success for both workers and enterprises alike,” Sukti Dasgupta, director of the Conditions of Work and Equality Department at ILO, said in the release.
