Agencies to test Emergency Alert System

Washington – FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. EST, the agencies recently announced.

The test is scheduled to last for up to 3.5 minutes. During this time, regularly scheduled television, radio, cable and satellite shows will be interrupted.

The national Emergency Alert System is an alert and warning system that can be activated by the president to provide information to the American public during emergencies.
