Are you familiar with NSC Divisions? They’re industry- and interest-specific groups of NSC member employees “organized to provide those with similar safety interests the ability to connect with others” and “add their voice to advance safety for all workers.”

This month in Safety+Health, we’re publishing the results of our 2023 Training Survey. Created in response to National Safety Council members asking NSC Library Manager Alaina Kolosh for data on training expenditures, the survey is now in its eighth year.

Sometimes you meet someone and you immediately know they’re a good person. Patrick was a good friend to Safety+Health, and a great champion of safety. We know his work helped save lives. We hope the rest of the safety community knows it, too.

NSC’s 2023 Spring Safety Conference & Expo will take place May 17-19 in Indianapolis. The event features more than 20 educational sessions – including traditional Technical Sessions, shorter Learning Labs and in-depth Professional Development Seminars that can earn you continuing education units.

I believe one point that doesn’t get addressed enough is that the thought of using CPR or an AED on someone during a medical emergency makes many people uneasy. They’re worried they may do something incorrectly and make matters worse.

Last year I made a decision to move from the Midwest – where I’ve lived my entire life – to the Deep South.

Raising awareness of – and providing guidance on – the implementation of safety technology is a goal of the National Safety Council’s Work to Zero initiative. Its mission: to “research the most effective technologies and ways to integrate them into the workplace, provide educational resources to increase the adoption of technology, and foster key partnerships with stakeholders in the field to strengthen everyone’s work.”
