Pilot association identifies airline security progress, gaps

Washington – The Air Line Pilots Association, International recently released a security summary that sheds light on the progress that has been made to secure commercial airlines since 9/11, as well as various shortcomings in aviation security in the United States and Canada.

OSHA opens NACOSH nomination process

Washington – OSHA is now accepting nominations for membership on the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, the agency announced Sept. 28.

OSHA reopens comment period for reporting and recordkeeping revision rule

Washington – OSHA has reopened the comment period until Oct. 28 for a proposed rule that would change employers’ reporting requirements for some serious workplace injuries, as well as change injury and illness reporting exemptions.

OSHA seeks large fine for trailer manufacturers

Sumner, TX – OSHA is seeking to fine two Texas manufacturers almost $950,000 for unguarded machinery, fall hazards, accumulations of potentially hazardous dust and failure to provide eye protection, the agency announced Sept. 27.

OSHA updates whistleblower manual

Washington – OSHA released an update to its Whistleblower Investigations Manual Sept. 21, the first such update in nearly a decade and part of a series of measures the agency is seeking in an effort to improve the Whistleblower Protection Program.

NTSB: Fatigue a factor in tanker collision
