Augusta, GA – More than two-thirds of patients seeking treatment for golf cart-related injuries at the level 1 trauma center at Georgia Health Sciences University suffered significant head injuries, indicates a study released July 8.

Children’s lawn mower injuries increasing, hospital says

Ann Arbor, MI – So far this summer, five children have received treatment at University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital for serious lawn mower injuries – nearly twice as many as normal. Because of this, doctors at the hospital are advising parents to take precautions to keep their children safe.

CSB: DuPont knew about issues that led to fatal incident

Fatigue rules for airline, train crews on DOT’s semiannual agenda

Washington – Final rules on the number of hours passenger train employees are allowed to work and rest requirements for airline flight crews are scheduled for release in August, according to the Department of Transportation’s semiannual regulatory agenda.

CDC: Workplace lead exposures decline

Atlanta – The prevalence of elevated blood-lead levels declined to 6.3 per 100,000 employed adults in 2009 from 14.0 in 1994, according to an analysis published in the July 1 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

Washington – A free resource from the American Chemistry Council’s Center for the Polyurethanes Industry offers guidance on developing training or advertising media depicting spray polyurethane foam application.

Barab: OSHA employing ‘shame’ tactics; issuing more willfuls

Cincinnati – OSHA is attempting to use the issuance of willful penalties to shame companies and, in turn, improve workplace safety, assistant OSHA administrator Jordan Barab said at the National Occupational Research Agenda Symposium 2011.
