Washington – The nonfatal occupational injury and illness rate fell to 3.5 cases per 100 full-time private-industry workers in 2010, from 3.6 in 2009, according to new data (.pdf file) released Oct. 20 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The 2010 rate is the lowest in at least 10 years. Of the 3.1 million injury and illness cases reported by the private industry in 2010, more than half required days away from work, job transfer or restriction, BLS said.
