Rate of fatal falls among elderly on the rise: CDC

Atlanta — The fatal fall rate for people 65 and older jumped 31 percent from 2007 to 2016, making falls the leading cause of injury-related death among people in this age group, according to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

NSC announces transition of Safe Communities America program

Effective June 30, the National Safety Council no longer will administer the Safe Communities America program. The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center will develop a steering committee to navigate the program during this transition.
