Washington – The Office of Management and Budget is reviewing an OSHA rule that would revise or eliminate requirements in several standards.
The Standards Improvement Project – Phase III affects many standards, from those in general industry to construction and maritime. Some changes would be more cosmetic, such as altering the title of various sections. Other changes would eliminate wording believed to be confusing, which in turn could clarify employers’ responsibilities.
OMB received the rule May 9, and reviews can last up to 90 days. OSHA originally published a notice of proposed rulemaking July 2, 2010, and had sought to publish the final rule in June 2011.
