Newtown, PA – HeartSine Technologies Ltd. recently issued a voluntary global correction for its public access defibrillators to resolve issues that may prevent the devices from functioning correctly.
Some Samaritan 300/300P PAD devices manufactured before December 2010 have been found to intermittently turn on and off, which may drain the battery. Also, machines with an early version of the battery management software may mistake a temporary drop in battery voltage for a low battery and turn off, according to a press release from the Food and Drug Administration.
The correction involves devices with the following serial numbers:
- 0400000501 to 0700032917
- 08A00035000 to 10A00070753
- 10C00200000 to 10C00210106
HeartSine said it will provide a new battery and electrodes, as well as a software upgrade, to customers whose devices are experiencing the on/off issue.
Customers are advised to check their device daily to ensure it is working and in ready standby mode. If it is not, they should contact HeartSine at (877) 877-0147 for a replacement unit.
