Hersman to continue as NTSB chairman

Washington – Deborah Hersman was sworn in for a second two-year term as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board on Aug. 4.

A board member since 2004, Hersman was nominated by President Barack Obama on June 28 and confirmed by the Senate on Aug. 2.

Before joining the board, she was a staff member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and earlier served as staff director and senior legislative aide to former Rep. Bob Wise (D-WV).
