NIOSH expands Web content for occupational lead exposure

NIOSH has redesigned its Web page on occupational lead exposure to make it easier and faster to find pertinent information, the institute said.

The page contains information on how to prevent hazards associated with working with lead, including heart disease, kidney disease, and impairment of the brain or nervous system. It also features links directing users to sections containing information specific for various groups, such as workers, employers and researchers.

Workplace lead exposure can occur in a variety of industries, such as construction and manufacturing, and lead can be absorbed into the body through several different means, such as inhalation or through the skin.
