Washington – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recently announced that one carrier has been granted a license for its cross-border long-haul pilot program, while another must undergo additional safety reviews before being licensed.
Mexican trucking company Transportes Olympic was the first company authorized to operate beyond the U.S. commercial border zone as part of the program, according to a notice published in the Oct. 14 Federal Register.
Baja, CA-based Grupo Behr has not been granted a license following concerns raised during a public comment period. Specific concerns raised for Grupo Behr included the company’s insurance history, out-of-service rate, vehicle maintenance rating and number of vehicle violations in the 24 months prior to August 2011.
FMCSA said it is conducting additional reviews of Grupo Behr’s inspections and vehicles.
