Work stress can lead to asthma: study

Stress in the workplace can increase your risk of asthma by up to 40 percent, suggests research from the Mannheim Institute of Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine in Germany.

According to a study abstract, researchers surveyed more than 5,000 workers on their work conditions, asking how often they experienced “work stress” or “an inability to relax after work.” Results indicated that those who reported experiencing work stress had up to a 40 percent increased risk of asthma.

The study was published in the April 27 issue of the journal Allergy.
