Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has scheduled public meetings of its National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council for May 10-11.
According to a notice published in the Feb. 28 Federal Register, the hybrid meetings are set for noon Eastern. The tentative agenda includes:
- Newly appointed representatives take the oath of office
- Introductions and updates from federal EMS liaisons
- Updates on NHTSA Initiatives
- Subcommittee reports
- Officer elections
Registration is required for anyone wanting to attend and requests to speak must be submitted to the Department of Transportation by May 4.
NEMSAC was first authorized under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act of 2012. The council’s purpose is to give EMS personnel the opportunity to provide advice to and consult with the Federal Interagency Committee on EMS and the transportation secretary on EMS issues.
Additionally, NEMSAC is seeking two new members: a fire-based EMS representative and a private EMS representative. Nominations for appointment must include:
- A resume or curriculum vitae with full name, title, home address, phone number and email address
- Two to four letters of recommendation
- A letter of interest identifying the EMS sector the applicant wishes to represent
The letter of interest should contain “an attestation statement indicating that the applicant is not a registered federal lobbyist and an understanding that as a government representative the applicant may not concurrently serve as registered federal lobbyists.”
