Arlington, VA — The Mine Safety and Health Administration has revamped its Mine Data Retrieval System in an effort to add functionality and more intuitive navigation to the online tool.
Designed to assist miners with accessing visualizations and data, including operator history, the updated system “will simplify the process for operators and others to obtain key data points and compare the safety of their mines with industry standards,” MSHA administrator David Zatezalo said in a June 12 press release.
In addition to its familiar functions, the MDRS offers enhanced data analysis and upgraded search capabilities while providing real-time data from MSHA statistical reports. Compliance assistance calculators such as Pattern of Violations, Significant and Substantial Rate, and Violations per Inspection Day are tied to the system.
MSHA weighed stakeholder feedback as it worked over the past year-plus to implement changes to the system, which the agency notes is the most frequently accessed page on its website.
