Amy Bellinger is Safety+Health’s online content manager, and we’re fortunate to have her. Living and breathing all things web, Amy is instrumental to the creation (and later, the redesign) of the S+H website and is always full of ideas for where it can go. Our trust in her knowledge and guidance is absolute.

Every month, Amy creates a report detailing our web traffic and social media presence. The reports have made clear that while our online presence continues to grow, one platform has been a bit neglected: LinkedIn.

I recently came across an article in Adweek magazine, written by Dan Tynan, titled Once a Running Joke, LinkedIn is Suddenly a Hot Social Network. Here’s What Changed. Although much of the article is written from a marketer’s point of view, it offers many insights, including:

“LinkedIn has become more than just a place to park one’s digital résumé.”

“Less buttoned-down and more accessible, it’s become a real social network for real business people.”

“Unlike Twitter and Facebook, it’s not besotted with fake profiles, fake news and angry invective. As a result, it’s become a kind of refuge for real people who want to discuss ideas, not hurl insults or swap memes.”

At S+H, we’re in favor of any platform that allows safety pros – many of whom tell us that they often feel isolated in their jobs – to carry on a civil conversation about the profession. So, we invite you to link in with us on our new page. We look forward to the discussion.
