NIOSH launches maritime safety center

Washington – NIOSH has opened its Center for Maritime Safety and Health Studies, intended to advance the safety of seafaring workers.

The center is expected to promote safety and health for this high-risk industry through research and intervention studies, according to a NIOSH news brief.

NIOSH injury epidemiologist Jennifer Lincoln will head the center. She has been director of the NIOSH Alaska Pacific Office and has been leading the Commercial Fishing Safety Research and Design Program.
