Resource details 5 best practices for workplace wellness programs

Los Angeles – A new resource offers guidance to employers about how to develop and maintain effective workplace wellness and health promotion programs.

From Evidence to Practice: Workplace Wellness that Works was published in September and produced by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Transamerica Center for Health Studies, a division of the Transamerica Life Insurance Co.’s nonprofit institute.

The guide details five best practices for workplace wellness programs:

  • Select a senior leader to take part in the program.
  • Do not shy away from bold choices to create a culture of health.
  • Develop rewards for positive behavior and results.
  • Share program updates and evaluations with clear communication.

“The value of this in-depth workplace wellness guide is the simple and cost-effective recommendations for employers that have been proven to be effective in other work environments,” Hector De La Torre, executive director of the Transamerica Center for Health Studies, said in a press release.
