Greenbelt, MD – The National Volunteer Fire Council will use newly awarded grant money to create a “culture of knowledge and safety” among emergency service personnel and address emerging safety and health issues, the organization recently announced.
FEMA awarded NVFC a $786,580 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to host a series of safety and health initiatives in the next year, according to an Aug. 24 press release.
NVFC programs administered through the grant will involve wellness, vehicle safety, and cancer awareness and prevention, among others.
“By educating personnel on their risks and manageable steps they can take to lessen these risks, we empower the volunteer fire service to do better,” NVFC Chairman Kevin D. Quinn said in the release.
