The Emergency Nurses Association, located in Des Plaines, IL, recently announced the creation of an institute intended to integrate safety and injury prevention into nurses’ standard practice.
ENA said the Institute of Quality, Safety and Injury Prevention will create staff and patient injury prevention programs and develop tools to assist nurses with best practices.
“While injury prevention has long been a passion of emergency nurses, it has often been viewed as an activity somewhat separate from the day-to-day practice of nursing,” said ENA President Diane Gurney. “But the future of practice quality improvement and injury prevention is an approach recognizing the importance of integrating cutting-edge research and best practices into the formation and implementation of quality improvement and injury prevention programs.”
