Here’s a safe way to dispose of medications that you’re no longer using or have expired. On April 25, the Drug Enforcement Administration is sponsoring its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event is set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (in all time zones) at nearly 4,200 locations around the country.
These types of medications will be accepted during the takeback event:
- Capsules
- Cough syrup (sealed in original container)
- Patches
- Prescription drugs
- Tablets
Items that won’t be collected include:
- Illicit drugs
- Sharps
- Syringes
The Food and Drug Administration provides instructions for disposing of these types of items.
