New research shows that going for a five-minute walk a few times per day could boost your mood and help you feel more awake.
A team of international researchers examined data from more than 11,000 people who went on five-minute walking breaks every 30, 60 or 120 minutes for 14 consecutive days.
They discovered that the walking reduced the participant’s fatigue and “low mood” regardless of how frequently the breaks were taken.
However, five minutes of walking every 60 minutes offered the “most favorable balance” of a realistic break time and positive results, the researchers said.
The study was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
