Smoke alarm manufacturer issues recall for 200,000-plus units

Mebane, NC — Fire safety product manufacturer Kidde has issued a safety recall of around 226,000 smoke alarms and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms that may fail to alert users to a fire.

The possible affected devices feature either the Kidde TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the unit. Impacted model numbers, which can be found on the back of the alarms, include 2040-DSR, 2050-DS10, 2060-ASR, 2070-VDSCR, 2070-VASCR, 2070-VDSR and 2070-VASR. The models were sold between May 2019 and September 2020.

Affected users are instructed to keep using the recalled alarms until a complimentary replacement model can be obtained and installed.

Affected users can call Kidde toll-free at (844) 796-9972 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern on Saturdays. Users also can visit kidde.com.
