FMCSA places motor carrier out of service after fatal crash

Washington – A motorcoach carrier involved in a fatal crash near Fredericksburg, VA, on May 31 was issued an unsatisfactory rating and placed out of service, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said June 2.

Institute announces date of rural traffic safety summit

Experts recommend steps to prevent lawn mower injuries

Chicago – Approximately 253,000 individuals were treated for lawn mower injuries in 2010, 17,000 of whom were younger than 19, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Institute offers tips to avoid summertime injuries

San Antonio – Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 1 and 44, and is the cause of more than 37 million emergency department visits each year, according to the National Trauma Institute. The organization warns that the number of traumas is likely to spike during the coming summer months.
