It takes a lot of courage to admit when we’re struggling – and to take steps to turn things around.

For me, September has a lot to look forward to: cooler temps, the first day of fall and, this year, the NSC Safety Congress & Expo.

Next month brings you an opportunity to experience a special sense of camaraderie with thousands of people who, like you, are dedicated to making others safer.

I’m a little more than six months away from my 25th anniversary at the National Safety Council. One of the biggest reasons I still enjoy logging on in the morning is that I get to see and talk with my amazing co-workers.

Now in its 29th year, this National Safety Council initiative raises awareness of injury and illness prevention. Go to nsc.org/nsm to find activities, tips and other resources you can use to engage workers and reinforce your commitment to keeping all employees safe and healthy.

This month’s NSC Thought Leadership column features the first of a five-part series on SIFs. Written by Perry Logan, senior director of NSC Networks, it’s titled, “Understanding SIFs: Why they matter to everyone.”

I don’t know any women who haven’t felt frustration at one time or another when trying to find clothes that fit properly.

For NSC, “personal” is a key word. It’s echoed in the council’s “Safety is Personal” initiative, which has continued into 2025.

We’d like to do more to spotlight the everyday successes and wins of safety pros. So, with your help, we’ll try.
