DOT extends surface transportation funding

Washington – Congress on Dec. 21 approved the Continuing Appropriations and Surface Transportation Extensions Act, which extends funding for various Department of Transportation safety provisions.

NHTSA begins rulemaking for speed-limiter device standard

Washington – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced it will begin the rulemaking process to establish a safety standard that would require speed-limiting devices in certain heavy trucks.

NTSB issues safety recommendations to prevent pipeline ruptures

Washington – The National Transportation Safety Board on Jan. 3 released safety recommendations in light of recently released preliminary findings from a San Bruno, CA, pipeline rupture investigation.

OSHA 300 log summaries must be posted Feb. 1

Washington – Employers are required to post a summary of their 2010 OSHA 300 logs for employees by February 1. The summary, OSHA Form 300A, must remain posted through April 30.
