Washington – Installing security cameras in taxicabs may help prevent violence against taxi drivers, NIOSH researchers suggest.

Silver Spring, MD – The American Nurses Association on June 26 released a set of voluntary standards for the development of safe patient lifting programs to help reduce the risk of injury among health care workers.

According to NIOSH, the private and public solid waste industry recorded 599 fatal traumatic occupational injuries between 2003 and 2009 – an average of 85 fatalities each year.

Bench-mounted and pedestal grinders – which are equipped with abrasive stones, wire brushes and buffing brushes to sharpen, grind, strip and polish metal – can be found in many industrial settings, according to the FIOSA-MIOSA Safety Alliance of British Columbia.
