Safety+Health’s 2011 salary survey of safety professionals takes up a large potion of the magazine’s feature section this month. I’m aware that National Safety Council members frequently receive emails from NSC, so I want to thank those of you who took the time to open the email from S+H and complete the survey.
After last year’s survey results were published, a few of you wrote to tell us that some of the data was difficult to interpret. Fortunately, the S+H staff works less than 100 yards away from the NSC Research and Statistical Services Department, and Manager of Statistics Ken Kolosh willingly provided advice and technical review on the charts and graphs for 2011. We’re in his debt.
Senior Associate Editor Kyle W. Morrison took the lead on coordinating and analyzing this year’s survey data. Many journalists find working with numbers really tough, so kudos to Kyle for volunteering for the project.
Final thanks go to Senior Graphic Designer Ian Palmer, who worked closely with Kyle to present the data. Frequent text and layout adjustments, design tweaks, and photo swaps are a routine part of Ian’s job, and it takes a special type of person to be able to handle it.
So how did we do? Is this year’s Salary Survey easier to digest, or have we made things even more complicated?
